In Stage Mode, each stage awards between 0 and 3 stars based on the score a player achieves after clearing it. Base score starts at 0 at the beginning of a stage and increases as the player makes matches and objects are destroyed. After clearing a stage, bonus score is added based on the number of capsules or seconds remaining. Some assistant skills also grant additional bonus score.

Note: The details below are not comprehensive. Testing still needs to be done for other factors, like doctor skills and many other gimmicks.

Base Score

N: Number of viruses + half-capsules in the match. Note that T, L, and + matches count as one match.
X: There is a counter that starts at 1 at the beginning of a stage which is factored in score calculation and increases by 1 after each match.
V: Number of viruses in the match.

To calculate how much score a match gives, add all of these together:

  • Base score of a match: 100N + 5NX
    • Example: the 4th match during a stage had 6 viruses/half-capsules, which grants 600 + 120 = 720 score
  • Viruses: 10(V^2), except for 1 and 2 which give 0 and 20 respectively
    • Example: a match with 6 viruses grants 360 score
  • Items (Shells, Exploders, Skill Chargers): 10X per icon
  • Objects removed through other means (Shells, Exploders, Skills): 100 + 5X per virus/half-capsule, 5X per block
  • Shells: normal score (eg. 5X per block, etc.)
  • Exploders: normal score (eg. 5X per block, etc.) except for virus score: 390 + 170(V-3) + 10(V-4)(V-3) + 5VX, except for V = 1 and 2, which are 105 + 5X and 220 + 10X respectively
    • Example: the 3rd match during a stage triggers an exploder which removes 5 viruses and 2 capsules, this grants [390 + 340 + 20 + 75] + [2(115)] = 1055 score
  • Combo: only if both matches contained viruses, adds small amount of score based on V in the second/third match (third match has its bonus doubled): 78 + 34(V-3) + 4(V-4) except for V = 1, 2, 3 are 25, 44, 78 respectively
    • Example: a match of 1 virus + 2 capsules was made, the two capsules become half-capsules, one is used to make a match of 4 which grants 78 + 34 = 112 score, the second is used to make a match of 5 which grants 2 * (78 + 68 + 4) = 300 score
  • Skills: 150 + 10X per virus removed, normal score for everything else (eg. 5X per block)
    • This counts as a match, so it increases X by 1

Bonus Score

RC: Remaining capsules
RS: Remaining seconds

  • In capsule-limited stages, if RC is less than 12, bonus score is: summation from 1 to RC of [1000 + (100 * (RC-1))]
    • Example: 6 remaining capsules grants 1000 + 1100 + 1200 + 1300 + 1400 + 1500 = 7500 score
  • If RC is 12 or over, bonus score is: 16500 + [2000 * (RC-11)]
  • In time-limited stages, if RS is less than 28, bonus score is: summation from 1 to RS of [500 + [50 * floor((RS-1)/3)]
    • Example: 11 remaining seconds grants 500 + 500 + 500 + 550 + 550 + 550 + 600 + 600 + 600 + 650 + 650 = 6250 score
  • If RS is 28 or over, bonus score is: 18900 + [950 * (RS-27)]
